I published a book titled "Beautiful Ecstasy" in 2003 (work from the early 80's www.michaelnorthrup.com/beautiful ) and my designer (believe it or not he's one of the best in NYC) ran the gutter down the middle of every page. I've had very mixed reactions from different people. His idea was to make the design simple but bold, make the images as big as possible, play with the symmetry of the book , play with the "book" format/structure, and play with my centralizing the main subject in every image as though the main subject was a target for me to hit in the bullseye. He said this project was as much about "being a book" as it was about the photos. But hey, ... there's a gutter down the middle of all my images. Does this work?
